GFS Sending a Warning?
THE SOUTHERN JET STREAM IS NO DREAM! OUR MOST HATED FRIEND, THE GFS, IS BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND THE PATTERN. THE SOUTHERN JET IS ACTIVE AND CONTINUES TO PUMP MOISTURE OUT OF THE PACIFIC RIGHT OVER US. JUST LOOK OUTSIDE AND YOU WILL SEE A HIGH LEVEL DECK OF CLOUDS. AT TIMES, SYSTEMS WILL BE ABLE TO FORM AND SHOOT ACROSS THE SOUTH. I USE THE WORD SHOOT BECAUSE THEY WILL BE FAST MOVING.
THE ABOVE PANEL IS FOR SUNDAY MORNING SHOWING ONE OF THOSE SYSTEMS. THE GFS IS FAR FROM PERFECT AND THE DETAILS AGAIN CAN'T BE TRUSTED. WHILE THIS WOULD APPEAR TO BE A RAIN EVENT, I'M NOT WILLING TO BUY IT YET.
THE NORTHERLY FLOW AT THE SURFACE IS GOING OVER SNOW AND ICE FIELDS TO OUR NORTH. THIS MAY KEEP TEMPERATURES FROM RISING TO THEIR FORECAST LEVELS. YES, INDEED FIVE THOUSAND FOOT TEMPERATURES ARE ABOVE FREEZING. IF ENOUGH DRY AND COLD AIR STICKS AROUND, PART OF THE STATE MAY HAVE TO DEAL WITH SLEET.
