The "Icky" Factor
The dog days of summer are here. I guess it could be worse since we could easily reach 100 degrees or more every afternoon. The humidity makes it feel so uncomfortable.
We measure the amount of moisture in the atmosphere with the dewpoint temperature. Check out the "icky" factor above. Most of the time, our dewpoint lately has been 70 to 71 degrees. That's why when you step outside, it feels like you need to go shower again. I'm pointing all this out because we may get a little relief this weekend, especially in northern Arkansas.
In previous posts, I have talked about a cool front coming in from the northeast. This is still on track to occur Friday night into Saturday. This will up the rain chance. The front may stall somewhere across the state, but is more likely to clear the northern sections. It won't feel like fall, but there may be some drier air. We're talking about a dewpoint anywhere from 65-69 degrees. That's the best I can do as far as relief.
