Arkansas State Fair

I was watching the 5 PM news Tuesday night and heard Scott Inman ask Barry Brandt about weather stats. for the state fair. It seems like each year, a good cool snap arrives around the start date of the Arkansas State Fair. I thought it would be interesting to look back so I contacted Tiffany Thompson at the state fairgrounds. She provided me with the dates of the fair since 1995. Thanks Tiffany for getting this info. for me.

When looking at the stats above, it's important to remember the fair starts and ends on different dates each year, but is always 10 days long. The above are the calculations since 1995.

It's worth noting that the hottest temperature over the past 12 years is 89 degrees. It happened twice on Oct. 11, 1997 and on Oct. 18, 2006.

The coolest night was Oct. 10, 2000. The low was 34 degrees.

The most rainfall over the 10 day period since 1995 occurred in 2004. 4.74'' of rain fell.

There has only been 2 out of 12 years with no rainfall.
