10 AM Monday Update... Jimmylee42 had a great question in the comment section. He asked about the number of 105 degree + days. So far we have 4 days of 105 degree or more officially.
Is this a record? According to the Little Rock record book, the category title says "Summer with most highs above 105". The way I read this, it does not include 105 degrees. According to this statistic, we have had 2 which puts us tied at 6th place. Here is exactly what it says in the record book...
SUMMER W/ MOST HIGHS ABOVE 105 DEGREES F.
1. 1980 - 10 days
2. 2000 - 4 days
3. 1986 - 4 days
4. 1954 - 4 days
5. 1930 - 4 days
6. 1998, 1936, 2010 - 2 days
7. 2007 - 1 day
We have been warning you the next round of heat and humidity should build throughout the week with temperatures going into the upper 90s to near 100 degrees. Heat index readings should make it into the 105-115 range. Each afternoon we could get a few isolated showers and storms.

You may have noticed I moved things around here on the blog. The Joe Bastardi interview is still available and on its own page. I wanted to keep that up there since that will be interesting to watch over the next few months.

Todd so what do you think of the Low in the gulf? The nam shows it to get very big but the gfs is not picking up on it much. If it does form it looks like the winds will bring it right are way.

Even though winter is my season to watch I find the info you posted on those summers very interesting. I remember that the summer of 1980 had several of those 47 days of 100 degrees where the high was 105 or better, maybe 15-20. It would be interesting to know that stat, also I think that 1980 set more daily high records than any summer.
Well Todd it looks like we wont get any help from the low in the gulf. looks to go east of us and leave it hott.
