1 PM Friday Update...I will have a new post this weekend dealing with the warm air coming into the state and what will follow. I have a feeling everyone will be enjoying the 50s and 60s in the forecast this weekend!
I'm sorry if I don't respond to emails for awhile. I have about 1500 in my email box with several pictures attached to each one... easily 5-7 thousand to look through. I did run across a couple which gave me a good laugh and thought I would post them for you. Hope you're not too offended.

5 PM Thursday Update... While it won't get to the incredible low temperatures in Oklahoma tonight (-31 degrees in Nowata, OK), tonight COULD end the streak of years without single digit readings officially in Little Rock. We almost have the perfect combination of clear skies, no wind, and snow cover. The only thing that could stop us is a very light southwest to west wind developing at about 2-4 miles per hour.
Here's my call to action... send in your low temperatures in the morning in the comment section. I can't wait to see Shack's temperature. LOL

I hope Snowplosion lived up to your expectations. I think our forecasts at Channel 7 worked out well, however, the snow in northwest Arkansas was unbelievable. A couple of Futurecast runs showed those huge amounts, but we just didn't believe it.
A HUGE thanks to snow chasers WeatherNinja and Erich Hopkins. They traveled through the hilly terrain in western Arkansas and even drove up the highest point in all of Arkansas ( Mt. Magazine) WITHOUT CHAINS!!
Also, thanks to Paul_The_Wxguru for live streaming in Austin. Chad Gardner did a fantastic job showing us his unique perspective of the world of Sherwood.
With snow on the ground, clearing skies, and no wind, it will be interesting to watch those temperatures Friday morning. Could we get into the single digits? The models have us in the teens, but I think it's possible. Remember, we haven't done that in 15 years.
The 1st winter contest has eliminated everyone, except Zak Bradley. Congratulations Zak, no matter how much more snow we get, you have the title. He guessed 51.6'' and so far the total is 53.8'' between all four sites. That will go up because as I write this, Pine Bluff has not reported yet. The 2nd contest is yet to be decided
The MASSIVE warm up I have talked about is right around the corner. We have to melt all the snow first, but I think it's entirely within the realm of possibility to hit 70 at some point next week here in Little Rock.
Check out some of the snow totals below. Thanks for coming to the Arkansas Weather Blog... We are your ticket to BIG Weather Events.

Well everyone was calling for Pocahontas to get 1-2, and we should have, but the good lord was looking out for me, and we got almost 7 inches of snow from one little HEAVY snow-band that was around 25 miles wide and we happen to be in the middle of it! Pocahontas got around 5-7 inches and I had a smile on my face all day, and when I go to bed I will still be smiling. Awesome day sledding with the wife and kids. Thanks for a great blog and if we dont get another snow I enjoyed this Winter so much more following you guys.

What a beautiful snow! I have to admit....I was pretty jealous this morning when I woke up to tiny little snowflakes, and word that NW AR had 20 inches on the ground! When the heavy snowband made its way into west Little Rock, it was all we had hoped for and more. I enjoyed a house full of family, sledding with the kids, games in front of the fire place, too much good food.....and a beautiful "postcard" outside my window all day long! You know...when I try to explain what it is about snow that I love so much, I think it always comes back to home and family. Everything stops, no one "has" to be anywhere! No ballgames, no school, no meetings.....just family time...treasured time for making memories. I hope everyone in the Weather Blog family did just that today, and will continue tomorrow to enjoy this "SNOWPLOSION"! Congratulations on nailing it again, Todd! Awesome job as always. I echo Jason's thoughts....this winter truly has been so much fun following you guys! Everybody stay safe and warm!!
I am speechless to see my name, though mispelled Zack instead of Zac, on the blogpost wrapping up one of our most memorable winter weather days in my lifetime. I have been declared the winner of winter weather contest one. I, like many of you, am just another weather geek. When I originally saw how much higher my forecasted amount waa than everyone else's, I laughed at myself. I guess it was my wishful thinking, and obvious lack of historical data, that led me to believe four weather locations would render 51.6" this winter. When I saw Todd "The Weather Rockstar" Yakoubian anticipated just 9", I wrote this year off to my snowignorrance.
I want to join the many of those who have told you, this blog is a great asset to the people of this state that find a rush and curiousity out of extreme weather. I look forward to my subscription to weathertap.com so that I can learn much more about one of my favorite hobbies.
My other favorite hobby, however, is golf. So let's melt this off in time to enjoy the sunshine and warm air around the corner.
Thanks again for all you guys do.
I got 5.5" of Snow in the Steprock area of North White County this round! That's 12.5" total this winter for me! It is fun, but driving 40 miles to work in this isn't!!! LOL!! Great job, as always Todd, and KATV!!!!!
That snow yesterday was something else. My snow thirst is quenched for now. That heavy snowburst around 12:15 that lasted about 1/2 an hour was heavier than anything I've seen even in the deeper snows of the 60',70's and even the 88 snow. Ended up with 7 inches in WLR. Great job forecasting and coverage, all you guys.
Choctaw, AR received 9" of snow and made it down to 2 degrees this morning at 7:20AM!
Sure Todd, make fun of my Accu-Rong thermo, lol.
Like the tweet said, my neighborhood is in a bowl, but I might have it too low to the ground. But the dial thermo reads the same as the digital and my upper temps seem to be accurate. Who knows.
Anyway, 2 degrees here this morning and 14 at 8:37 am.

Hello Everyone, Thanks to all my follower on Twitter & on the blog, Thanks to Weather Ninja,Todd, & All you out there that makes this blog so much fun! All I can say is WOW! What a Winter for Arkansas,Somethings we have seen this winter so far, That we may never see again in our life time, but Who know right! GOD!! That's right!! I have done well so far this winter with most of my long-range forecasting, Sure I missed one or two..I stated in a tweet last night about, I had a strange feeling that winter will make a return..I know I, I know most of us have had enough,,Hey, over the next 3-10 days, It should be beautiful with temps & no major weather events..But, I do think winter temps & winter weather will make one last stand during the period from Feb.25-March 5, I do beleive the Central & Northern Sections will be more at risk to see this...There are several things I look at when trying to give my long-range outlook, One main thing is gut feeling, I feel I have a special gift from God, to do this, I know to some it main sound strange, but to me its great..Other things I look at are my secret indgredients..lol..From what I get out of all this after the possible cold period from Feb.25-March 5 after that, Then you got your Possible late March & early April suprises..Then off to spring & severe weather we go...One thing I have learned this season, You dont have to have Major High Pressures to get extended very cold periods, In fact, This will help me in the future forecasting..I will post maybe a time or two before spring, But Winter is my season, not to crazy about the rest of the year, Other than Tropical Season,.Everybody stay Safe...Oh, next season I will be set up for live streaming from my vehicle, So all the Snow Storms I see you all will be there with me...See ya
