December 14th, 1987 Tornado in West Memphis
It's hard to believe it has been 25 years ago today (Friday). I remember this day very well. An F3 tornado touched down in West Memphis killing 6 people leaving 1500 homeless. The storm was responsible for almost 35 million dollars in damage.
The tornado tracked just a couple hundred yards away from the racetrack which was full of spectators.
This was just the beginning of wild weather ride in West Memphis. Late that same month on Christmas Eve, 12 inches of rain fell causing massive flooding. Just a couple of weeks later on January 5th, 10 inches of snow fell.
Here's aerial video from the KATV video archive.

Hello, I am doing a report on this and this just helped me so much. My grandmother, Edith Angus, was the first one killed in that tornado. RIP Grandma<3
