Contest question...

What will be the combined accumulated snowfall to the nearest tenth of an inch for Little Rock, North Little Rock, Harrison, and Fayetteville for the period December 1st through February 28th?

For example, let's say hypothetically snowfall totals for the 3 months are: Fayetteville 3.4'', Little Rock 5.5'', Harrison 12.4'', and North Little Rock 6.8''.  Your answer would be 28.1 inches.

Tiebreaker:

What will be the combined total low temperature December 1st through Feb. 28th for Little Rock and North Little Rock. For example, if Little Rock has a low temperature every night of 30 degrees and North Little Rock has a low temperature every night of 25 degrees.  Over those 90 days of the contest, your answer would be 4950

All the data will be gathered from official National Weather Service observation locations in each city.

So there you have it!  Make sure you answer both or I will not be able to include you in the contest.

While I am sure this contest is news worthy I would think the upcoming Arctic blast would be the topic of conversation. Major arctic front due the end of next week. Greater snow cover than normal to our north means less modification of the air. EURO and GFS models are both trending to something substantial next weekend. May not be the Christmas blizzard of last year but it's going to get big time cold and that's the first ingredient. Does anyone remember 1983? We shall see......

Todd-I noticed that the NWS nationally has Arkansas in the bullseye for a warmer than normal winter. If this happens, this will blow up my 6 year winter weather cycle theory. The cycle shows that winter 2013-14 will be colder and snowier than any in that 6 year period.
