They Are More Than Just Tornado Sirens.

Last night (Sunday) was annoying and educational at the same time.  It started about 11:48PM as I was about to doze off to sleep and the outdoor warning sirens began to wail all over west Little Rock.  However, it wasn't the constant wail you would expect during a tornado warning.

After a few calls and some digging, Alyson Courtney found out it was a malfunction and the National Weather Service confirmed that to me as well.  It was finally over at 12:24AM Monday.  That was 36 minutes of my kids asking me what was going on out there!

Yes, annoying, but I discovered something new.  We are accustomed to the constant wail of a tornado warning, but there are actually 6 different tones and they all have 6 different meanings.

Here they are from the city of Little Rock website PLUS, there's a link to the siren manufacturer, Whelen.  You can actually hear recordings of the tones.  Enjoy annoying your coworkers with this today! LOL
