Hottest So Far...
As of 2 PM this Saturday afternoon, the temperature at the Little Rock airport is 98 degrees. We are easily within the reach of hitting 100 today with a solid 2-3 hours left of heating. The air is drying out with a southwest wind and the soil moisture is leaving. Strong high pressure is in place and triple digit heat looks likely several times before the end of the month.
LATE AFTERNOON UPDATE... as of 5:30, our high for the day is 98 which still makes it the hottest so far this year. No change for at least the next seven days. If anything, it gets hotter by the middle and end of next week. STRONG high pressure is blocking anything from moving our direction.
