It's a day I will never forget and many Arkansans will not forget as well. 4 Years ago today, we experienced 12 tornadoes and 7 died.
We started our live on air coverage around 8:30 AM with the tornado in Birdtown. This tornado eventually hit Damascus and was rated an EF3. Meteorologist Melinda Mayo was reporting live from Toad Suck in Conway that morning and was able to shut down and travel quickly to Damascus and began to report live there. When all was said and done, we were on the air for almost 9 continuous hours which is still the longest of my career. These tornadoes were huge and I remember getting pictures in and thinking they reminded me of what you would see out in Oklahoma or Kansas.
This was just one of many outbreaks in 2008. That year ended up being the 2nd most active tornado year in Arkansas weather history. We had one more outbreak to deal with for the spring season and that was the Stuttgart EF3 tornado on May 10th. I'll have more on that later.

Wow, I didn't live here then, but my family told me about it. These pictures are incredible, and not in the good way. Thank you for posting this blog. I know all of Central Arkansas appreciates everything you and your team do.
9:02 am a tornado hit Greers Ferry and destroyed our house and many others in our neighborhood. We had only been in our house for 18 hours. It's a day that we won't forget.
