Little Rock Still Without A 90° Day in 2017

How rare is it not to hit 90° this late in the year?  You have to go back to 1939 to find the last time it was this late.  Yes, that's 78 years ago when...

  • A gallon of gas was only 10 cents
  • A loaf of bread was about 8 cents
  • A new car cost $700
  • A new house cost about $3800
  • The Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.  Gone With The Wind won.

We will hit it, it's just a matter of time.  After all, we do live in Arkansas.  If you don't like 100° heat, there's a glimmer of hope for you.  According to the National Weather Service office in North Little Rock, the 15 years when the 1st 90 degree day was June 11th or later, only 3 of those years did it reach 100°

If we can just make it to June 20th, it will be the latest it has ever reached 90° in Little Rock weather history, which dates back to the 1870s.  However, the party will likely come to an end today or Wednesday when the temperature finally reaches 90° and maybe a little higher than that.

Remember, this time of year it's important to look at the "feels like" temperature. With all the humidity, it will feel much hotter and you need to stay hydrated.
