New Year's Eve Severe Weather

New video blog coming Monday.

CLICK "TOP 10 OF 2010" IN THE WHITE BAR ABOVE TO VIEW THE BIGGEST WEATHER STORIES OF 2010.

The National Weather Service office in Tulsa, OK has given a preliminary rating of the Cincinnati, AR tornado an EF3 with winds around 140 mph.

While it wasn't a widespread outbreak for the state, the isolated tornado took the lives of 3 fellow Arkansans on this New Year's Eve.  Our prayers go to those in northwest Arkansas.

For more information on the tornado, CLICK HERE

Storms developed again across southern and eastern Arkansas late in the afternoon as instability increased in that area.  One storm passed along and just east of Star City producing large hail that covered the ground.  Here are a few pictures below.

I will update the top 10 weather events of 2010 and it will include the northwest Arkansas twister.  I hope to have that completed Saturday.  From all of us at Channel 7, have a happy and safe New Years Day.

Todd,
I cant get the radio thing to work. Everytime i click it it turn black and disapears and plays nothing.

About what time do y'all think the severe weather will passover LR and head into eastern Arkansas (ie Ark Co). Its warm here as well 70 degrees DP of 63. Maybe all will go well this afternoon. Sun keeps popping out though.

Hey i have stayed away from the models the last few days but just checked the gfs and it dont show any good snow the whole run of it. i hope we can get that to change.

You can trust the models. It showed nothing for christmas and then a couple days before christmas we got some rain showers. I dont trust the models anymore since the christmas storm system. Look out your window and go from there lol.

In a discussion about the weather pattern setting up across the U.S. for the month of January, This is what World Weather Expert Meteorologist Jim Andrews had to say.......

"The pattern does favor modest storms from the western U.S. to roll across the Deep South."

"While these are not likely to be powerhouses they could put down some snow and even ice over parts of the South and southern mid-Atlantic, where enough, but not too much cold air is present," Andrews added.

So here's hoping that pattern could benefit our winter weather chances here in Arkansas. It sure looks like the cold air will invade again by mid to late month, so maybe....just maybe!!

Praying for all those who were impacted by the storms yesterday. What a crazy way to bring in the New Year!!

Looked at it this morning and it shows wintery precip for late on the 10th into the 11th and even more on the 14-15th...

Snow accumulations for NW AR could it 12 inches through the 18th according to the 0z GFS run on the Twister Data Website...6 for South and Central Arkansas...

Way to far out...Maybe some snow!

I think that there will be some snow but not sure about 12 inches!

Hey yall snow geese, I see plenty of potential for several winter weather events over the next 2-3 weeks. One thing is almost certain, Very Cold weather, We just need the moisture. to the last post regarding the models stink, I agree to the most part, specailly the way they have performed here latley. They do help everyone with trends & possibilitys tho. Us model hawks just keep watching & hopefully we can get this boring winter kick started SOOOOON!!!!

if it gets real cold with no moisture it will be just the same ol thing BORING. we need a surprise system with the cold air locked in but its not looking promising.

Looking @ models past 7 days out is like playing some sort of fun game. Yeah models get them right from time to time, but so would I if a couple of my friends and I took a guess at the weather all year 7-10 days out lol. Everyone is saying COLD COLD COLD, but it wouldnt shock me one bit if it got warm in 7-10 days and we got another Severe weather outbreak. IF we do get some cold air, I just dont see it lasting more than 2-3 days, but thats just me. We will see.
