Winter Weather Possible Tonight For Northeastern Arkansas

The discussion below goes over model data showing where we could have some snow tonight and how much could fall.  Portions of eastern and northeastern Arkansas are under a winter weather advisory while sections of western Tennessee and northern Mississippi are under winter storm watches.

The video below explains it all!

All snow in Pocahontas, and coming down pretty good at times! Winter is here! Sign of things to come for December. First time in a very long time NEA will jump out ahead of NWA in Snowfall....even thought very light.

Todd, starting to look like all those models/ predictions for this winter are, once again, WRONG! mother naturevis sending quite the spoiler this round! I'm just ready for some of the white stuff in central Arkansas. Do you agree?

3 to as much as 8 inches in NEA, are you kidding me!?! We got close to 4 here in Pocahontas. We knew it had to snow very hard to get it to stick, and boy did it ever! I was waiting for a clap a thunder. Randolph County didnt even go under a Advisory until the event started. Alot of the NEA totals fell under Warning criteria. Just one of those freak storms and I was happy to be a part of it! Im ready for Decmber now.....looking COLD and active early Dec!

We love this kind of "busted" forecast! :) 6.5 inches here in Walcott, AR.

I bet Piggott got smacked being in the farthest corner of NE Arkansas.

I looked up some interesting data from the NWS. Only three times since the beginning of records has LR had three winters in a row of plus 6 inch snow total. I would have thought it was more than that.

I am predicting that LR will have the 6 inch plus total this winter for three winters in a row.

Wow, NE AR got up to 8 inches of snow already?! So unfair. Hopefully Central AR gets its turn soon.

Hello Everyone, Hope all enjoyed there first taste of wintry weather those who received any..My 2011/2012 Winter Weather Outlook was released in the Middle of Sept.My Nov.predictions was almost perfect..Ok, I am going to go out there about 2 weeks here in a brief summary..The next cold front coming into Ark this weekend should bring a round of wet weather & cooler temps as we round out the weekend..As far as wintry precip, NW Ark has the possibility of seeing a little wintry mix,& that's nothing to ride home about, Things still could change..Ok, I do feel our Coldest Shot of Cold Air will come with a Cold front between Dec.9-13, But, Its looking mostly dry with that, So, I see no big winter storms for us at the moment. Yes, That could change too..Will have to wait & see..But,As I have predicted the First half of Dec. is not suppose to be bad..Yes, there could be chances of a little wintry weather here & there,As far as temps, It dont look warm either,Mostly normal to a little below..As far as now we look to have the cold shots come & go,But, nothing major, The cold air just dont look to hold, I think a big part is the AO,AAO,& The NAO is in the positve to neutral phase & With that its very difficult to get the cold to lock & hold, Those signals is what helps keep the block over the poles & will keep the cold air pushed & locked into Canada & the US..Most of the time...I have done some research & found that you do not have to have these signals in the negative phase to have a Cold & Wintry Winter,In my opinion, If all three are in the negative that when you can have extreme brutal winters...but all three in the negative can be a bad thing also, Because if you have to much cold air pressing into the US, It harder to get your big storms, Because the storm track gets pressed to far to the south..I look for 1 or 2 of these signals to trend negative over the next 7-10 days, If not all three, but for how long remains a mystery..I still like the idea of Dec.15 thru 31st & Into the first week of Jan. to see some brutal temps & our first Winter Storm for much of Ark, That's just a guess as of now, There is no way to predict in detail that far out..Just for fun & For the Record I say Northern & Central Sections see there first Winter Storm Watch Issued Dec.20-25..We Shall See..:)
