What's Lurking Down The Road?

TWITTER: KATV_WEATHER

I thought I would make a video detailing what some of the data shows us 1-2 weeks down the road.  By no means is this a forecast, but just a few of the things I'm looking at.

Also, I share a few more thoughts about the big Christmas snow storm and the winter weather contest.  It's a rather lengthy video, but I think you'll enjoy it.

Happy New Year everyone! Great video Todd. Good point about the weakened state of the trees from the extreme drought we had this past summer. That certainly played a role. Speaking of last year, it was very warm for the U.S. Many, including myself thought this would continue through winter, but mother nature appears to have other plans. It's always very fascinating to me how the law of averages play out and can happen very quickly. I am a big fan of the cold, and very glad we flipped the pattern to below average the last 10 days or so. It was long overdue and needed. We shouldn't see too many bugs around this time! Last winter I remember getting chewed up by mosquitoes most of the winter. It does appear that we get the typical January Thaw starting this weekend and into next week. I am willing to bet the longer term models do verify that we get another shot of cold. This one could be much colder and stick around for a couple of weeks. We'll just have to wait and see. If so, get ready for more cold and winter weather. Everything is extreme now and when these events are in tandem with Summer and Winter, we really feel it. Didn't get the extreme cold or weather last Winter, but we have already made up for that with one storm with more to come. Expect the unexpected and enjoy the brief warm up! It won't last long.

"Could be" above average? Temperatures are going to be pushing 60, with the average high being about 49. I think it will definitely be above average.
